Seated Ganesh
This Seated Ganesh Chola Lost Wax Bronze is 20-inches tall and weighs 28kg. This is a very common posture of Ganesh seen in Temples throughout India especially in the southern region of Tamal Nadu. Ganesh is “the remover of obstacles” and invoked before the start of new undertakings to help destroy any obstacles that may arise. The seated Ganesh holds a noose in his upper left hand, an elephant goad in his upper right hand and his broken tusk that he used to write the Mahabharata epic is in his lower right hand and a ball of Lodu, or sweet prasad in his lower left hand. In his curled trunk he holds a water vessel topped by a coconut. As are all of our statues this Ganesh statue is a hand made one of a kind Chola Lost Wax bronze sculpture cast in our home workshop in Boomayapalayam.
