Gopal Khrishna in Peacock Arch

This Young Khrishna or Gopal Khrishna depicts Khrishna as a young teen. This handcrafted Chola Lost Wax Bronze is 3 feet 0 inches tall and weighs 35kg.  Instead of a crown as shown on most Khrisha murtis this depiction shows Khrishna’s hair in braids on top of his head. The arch is supported at the bottom by 2 Peacocks and 2 also top the arch. It is made up of an inner decorative supporting trellis ring and the Peacock feathers from the bottom Peacocks growing vigorously upwards to join with the tail feathers of the upper Peacocks. Krishna himself is depicted at a younger age and accordingly, his dress is less ordained with jewels and banners. His torso supports the youthful Khrishna playing his precious flute adorned with a bell.  At this age of his life, he was probably walking along the banks of the Yamuna River serenading the farmer’s admiring daughters. The hours and hours of diligent preparation and various stages of hand filing in the statue shown in a simplicity that pleases and evokes the youthful nature of the Gopal Khrishna statue.  The rectangular base measures 21.25 X 9 inches and carries four of Khrishna’s sacred cows dressed in ceremonial blankets.  The base is hollow emphasizing the details of the ceremonial cows. In line with the one of a kind Lost Wax Process Bronze although the depiction of Gopal Khrishna is historically accurate to the original statue, the face of this statue is as unique as you will find in the human population in general. The polished bronze face of this Gopal Khrishna is meant for your devotion.
