Vishnu the Preserver
This Lord Vishnu Chola Lost Wax Bronze is 2 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 20kg. As with all of our one of a kind Chola Lost Wax Process bronzes the face of this statue is as individually unique. Because Vishnu maintains the cosmic order of the universe or dharma, he is characteristically portrayed standing upright and balanced. While Vishnu has many forms, this four-armed form is most common in the historic record of Antique Chola Lost Wax Bronze Icons as seen in museums and temples throughout India. In his four arms, he holds a Shankha a conch shell (upper left hand), used as a war horn to signal troops and Chakra (disc-upper right hand) are emblems of Vishnu. The Chakra named Sudarshana is a powerful weapon that is time personified and symbolizes dharma. Vishnu is wearing jewels around his neck and a beautiful ornate crown. The fine detail on the crown blends flawlessly all the way around. The crocodile shaped earrings he wears are called Makara Kundala. Notice the small triangular mark near his right shoulder. This mark is called Srivatsa and was inflicted by Shiva’s trident during a duel between Shiva and sage Narayana who was an incarnation of Vishnu. However, Vishnu bears this mark with reverence as Lord Shiva who is extremely dear to Vishnu. His right hand is raised in Abhaya Mudra (assurance or granting fearlessness) and left extends and rests near his waist in Katyavalambita Mudra. His perfect and unique waist is adorned with a powerful Demon like center and 4 ornate belts blend into the classic leg pattern seen on this form historically. The sculpture stands on a solid round pedestal. In order to accommodate a neat round base, this statue does not have the sometimes seen the two upward pointing bars on the pedestal are usually meant to slide over and fit onto a vertical Prabhavali the ornate arch around South Indian statues.

- International customers, please be advised Statues (over 6 inches tall) shipped Internationally require review and approval of the State Archaeologist which can only be scheduled once a month. Even with a 2-week Federal Express shipping time to the furthest destination, this state requirement can add 6-8 weeks to the delivery process.
- As mentioned above all statues are shipped via Federal Express outside of India and TNT for domestic orders. The cost of shipping is dependent on destination and the weight of the statues and will be calculated at the time of purchase but we can offer our educated estimate if you contact us ahead of purchase.
- Lost Wax Chola Bronze is composed of Copper, Iron, and Tin. In current times the we use scrap bronze typically referred to as gunmetal with additional copper added to make copper the majority element. The term Panchaloha Bronze refers to a 5 metal bronze with the addition of Gold and silver. The gold and silver is strictly for religious purposes and do not affect the structural integrity or visual finish of the bronze. For custom orders of home Pooja or Temple Statues, we can discuss the addition of predetermined quantities of gold and silver in your deity, the cost of which will be added into the total cost quoted.
- Custom orders can be arranged but as stated previously we will only produce statues in their historically documented poses and aspects.

This graceful form of Shiva is infused with such artistic grace that it has come to represent all in Indian art, dance, and music. It possesses fluidity and flow of dance, purity of music and beauty of art. In this remarkably standardized form, the god is shown dancing within a flaming halo (prabha mandala) which represents time and which is shown as a circle to symbolize the Hindu belief that it is both cyclical and without end. This statue is 16 inches from base to top of the tallest flame and weighs 10 kg. It is a classic example of the Chola Lost Wax Bronze casting process. The hundreds of hours of human energy in the form of wax molding, casting, rough/fine filing, and the final detail chiseling shine through in the completely unique face of this Siva Nataraja, truly one of a kind. Nataraja’s right foot stands on Apasmara (ignorance personified). - armed with dagger and a detailed tiny shield. Shiva’s left foot is raised in dance movement. A simple belt tied around his torso is shown flowing to his left and an erect Cobra sits on his right arm. He holds Damaru (hourglass drum) in his upper right hand and Agnishikha (flame) in left. His lower right hand is gestured in Abhaya Mudra (assurance or granting fearlessness) and left hand dangles down, relaxed gracefully in Gajahasta Mudra. He wears his hair as a crown, studded with stork feathers. His free-flowing hairs bear Ganga depicted as a mermaid on the right side and a snake on the left. The male and female earrings in his ears respectively symbolize Shiva’s completeness. The sculpture rests on a double pedestal of lotus and square. The elegance of this one of a kind Lost Wax process bronze Nataraja will grace your studio, pooja room or any place of reverence you provide.
