Ardhanarishvara

Om Siva!! Ardhanarishvara is the manifestation of Siva and Shakti (Parvati), in a single form. This is an 11th-century attempt to show equality between the male and female genders in society.  Having Ardhanarishvara in one’s home promotes harmony between husband and wife in difficult family situations.  Legend has it, that one day Siva received a group of Rishis to accept their oblations.  As the Rishis tightly circled Siva displaying their dedication and chanting “Om Namah Sivaya”, Parvati was whipped into a jealous rage at having another being between her and her beloved Siva.  In a rush, she broke through the circle of Rishis and merged herself into the body of Siva so they would never be apart.  Besides being an enlightened example of the equality of the sexes this beautifully crafted “Lost Wax Process Bronze” is a unique, one of a kind work of art. This 22.5-inch tall statue will surely add beauty and harmony to your home.  If you have a larger display space and would like as larger statue please review the 37-inch piece that we currently have in our shop.
