This Seated Parvati Chola Lost Wax Bronze is 15-inches tall from the tip of toe on dangling foot to top of the crown and weighs 6.5kg. This statue is a copy of a 14th-century piece that is in the Art Gallery of Thanjavur it is that piece that has been called Boga Shakti a form of Parvati. Parvati sits elegantly and completely at ease as displayed in her tranquil facial expression. Just as beautiful and devoted to Lord Siva as she is in the Shivakami standing posture one can still distinguish the long and lean figure with broad womanly hips and thin legs and arms. Her right hand is raised with fingers in Kadagahastam mudra. Her left hand is firmly grounded supporting her upright and graceful posture. She wears a beautiful, richly carved crown and her lips are lit with a divine smile. Her ears are depicted with long lobes, devoid of any earrings. Long ear lobes are indicative of wisdom and grace as per ancient standards of sculpture. Devi has perfectly formed, prominent breasts that highlight her maternal love for she is the mother of the universe. She sits with her right leg bent, foot resting on the simple flat base and the left leg dangling straight down in relaxation. Detailed anklets adorn both feet. The sculpture of Boga Shakti sits on a simple flat base that’s is perfect for a shelf or can be placed on a wooden base or stack of books that you may consider as holy as Boga Shakti herself.

Hanuman Conversing
One of the most appealing Hindu deities, Hanuman’s bravery, courage, and loyalty throughout the Ramayana epic are renowned. This Hanuman bronze statue is a reproduction of the original 11th century statue which is now possessed by the Metropoliton Museum in New York City. The original has been named by the experts as “Hanuman Conversing” and stands 24” tall. This reproduction is a full 35” and is a striking representation of the revered Hindu deity. Hand crafted from true Panchaloha bronze, 5 metal, this statue had 2 grams of gold and 20 grams of silver added to the molten bronze (Typically Copper, Tin and Zinc) when caste. Standing in a relaxed upright posture Hanuman is depicted in a unique pose. Here, he gestures obeisance to Rama with his raised left hand while engaging in animated discussion with his Lord, possibly about his discovery of Site in Lanka held prisoner by the powerful Ravana. Unlike his typical physical stature portraying himself as a muscular and fierce warrior, in this case he has presented himself to his lord in a modest almost feminine form as another sign of obeisance. The original sculpture was part of an ensemble with Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana at its center. It was included among an assemblage of processional icons kept by Vaishnava temples in South India for festival use. Typical of Chola-period representations, Hanuman has assumed anthropomorphic form, with only his face and tail confirming his monkey identity. The original is one of the finest bronze images of Hanuman to have survived from the Chola kingdom of south India. This reproduction embodies his noble, virtuous character with great sensitivity and to our knowledge is one of the only reproductions to ever have been produced. If it is not the only reproduction to have been produced it is certainly the finest.
